Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis is a rather painful condition, as a vertebra slips out of position and onto a lower vertebra. This ailment affects children (as a birth defect or an injury) with the first bone of the sacrum (pelvis) area. In adults, this condition is known as arthritis, and occurs around the T4 or T5 vertebrae.

What Causes Spondylolisthesis?

This condition commonly results in certain types of sports injuries; usually, gymnastics, football, weight lifting, and ice skating. Other causes for Spondylolisthesis include:

  • Bone disease

  • Fractures

  • Injuries

Do I have Spondylolisthesis?

There is a chance that you have this condition and may be unaware of it, as symptoms may not reveal themselves. The most well-known symptoms of this ailment include:

  • Hamstring muscle tighten

  • Increase in lordosis (swayback or increase in convex spine curvature)

  • Increase in kyphosis (hunchback or increase in concave spine curvature)

  • Lower back pain and tenderness

  • Thigh and buttock pain
